Second Annual Next Generation Data Center Kicks off Next Week in San Francisco

Data Center and open source community gather for industry's largest event where emerging trends, innovative products and agenda-setting educational content meet for four days only

IDG World Expo, the leading producer of world-class tradeshows and events, today provided a preview of next weeks Next Generation Data Center (NGDC), the only strategic IT event focused on the complete end-to-end solution and new technologies for the data center. The event, which runs August 4-7 at Moscone Center North in San Francisco, brings together data center professionals, ranging from IT architects to system administrators, from across the country to explore innovative new technologies tailored to meet the ever-increasing need for flexibility, scalability and performance in dynamic data center environments. Attendees will also take part in educational and hands-on training sessions led by technology experts and IT executives across a full spectrum of key industry-specific topic areas.

The NGDC exhibit hall floor opens on Tuesday, August 5 at 10:00 a.m. Exhibit hall passes are free on or before August 3, 2008 and will cost $50.00 thereafter. Register for free exhibit hall passes at http://www.ngdcexpo.com/.

The NGDC exhibit floor will feature companies that are driving the data center of the future, including agami Systems, Blue Lane Technologies, CA, Citrix Systems, Intel, Oracle, Pentadyne Power Corporation, Enhance Technology, Finisar Corp and many more. Many exhibiting companies will use the NGDC show floor to announce the public debut or general availability of their newest solutions or as a place to spotlight recently announced or enhanced products. The following is a sneak preview of some of the products that will be showcased on the exhibit floor this year:

AVANT (Booth #833) will be showcasing the new 2.5 RAID-Enhanced Solid State Drive (SSD) for high-powered servers and desktops. The drives main feature is an innovative RAID-enhanced design that delivers enterprise-class storage and allows for customizable data storage options. The Avant SSD is an ideal replacement for current hard drives because it offers unique data storage in addition to the improved performance and reliability of solid state technology.

EMERSON NETWORK POWER LIEBERT FS (Booth #417) will be showcasing the Liebert FS clean energy storage system. Used instead of hazardous lead-acid batteries with larger-scale UPS systems (>50 kVA), the award-winning, ultra-high efficiency Liebert FS is a sustainable, environmentally responsible product that delivers ridethrough energy for brief interruptions or for handoff to the backup generator. More than 10x the reliability of VRLA batteries, near-zero maintenance yielding 99.998% uptime availability, and a TOC less than half that of 5-minute VRLA batteries, as well as one-quarter the weight and one-half the footprint.

EMERSON NETWORK POWER (Booth #419) will be displaying enhancements recently made to its Knurr racks and enclosures products manufactured to handle frequent equipment changes, reduce space constraints, manage temperature control and provide a secure environment where business-critical technology can be appropriately monitored for performance. Key enhancements include: full rear door for the freest airflow in the industry, 19 Electronic Alliance Industries (EIA) rail enabling tool-less cable management to be mounted on the rack, low profile casters that make the cabinet 2" lower than standard casters, and vertical blanking panels that block off airflow between the EIA rail and the side of 32-wide cabinets.

ENHANCE TECHNOLOGY, INC. (Booth #739) will be showcasing two new next generation storage systems: the UltraStor RS16 FS and the UltraStor RS16 JS . The UltraStor RS16 FS is a new generation dual-port Fibre Channel 4Gb storage system that delivers best-of-class performance and scalability fit for the most demanding environments and enable system maintenance without interruption of services. The UltraStor RS16 FS is expandable for up to 80TB of storage capacity with four (4x) UltraStor RS16 JS, a new & advanced enterprise-class JBOD expandable storage array, designed to provide storage expansion to the award-winning expandable UltraStor RS family, or to connect to a host system integrated SAS RAID Host Bus Adaptor (HBA).

RARITAN (Booth #426) will be showing its new intelligent power management solution, the Dominion® PX, that helps address a growing number of data center power issues as a result of skyrocketing energy consumption and costs, and concerns for power availability. Based on the simple premise that you cant manage it if you cant measure it, Raritan has placed intelligence into power strips that gathers real-time, detailed information on power drawn by each server plugged into the strip. It also gathers temperature and other environmental information at the rack. Armed with this information, which can be viewed at the rack or from anywhere using a Web browser, companies can take a number of steps to reduce energy and support green computing -- including spotting inefficient or idle servers to decommission, improving cooling efficiency and identifying unused rack capacity.

COYOTE POINT SYSTEMS (Booth #631) will demonstrate its new Equalizer Series E650si, an advanced load balancing and high-performance application acceleration system purpose-built to meet the needs of mid-market and mid-enterprise data centers. The new E650si is Coyote Points all-in-one application delivery system that makes enterprise-class performance affordable and easy to use. This full-featured solution is the flagship in Coyote Points award winning product line. Coyote Points singular focus on delivering value and performance, combined with their reputation for high reliability, makes the E650si ideal for mid-market companies with business-critical application delivery needs, small IT staffs, and limited budgets for infrastructure equipment.

BLADE NETWORK TECHNOLOGIES (Booth #726) will demonstrate the capabilities of its innovative new open management platform for blade and top-of-rack switches, BLADEHarmony Manager 3.0. For the first time, data center administrators can standardize on rack-level network management for provisioning, scaling out and managing Web 2.0 environments, high-performance clusters or next-generation data centers. BLADEHarmony 3.0 reduces network management complexity and costs by enabling Rackonomics BLADEs revolutionary approach for bringing online highly virtualized data center networks while driving down total cost of ownership.

BLADE.ORG (Booth #726), the industry consortium driving innovation in blade-based solutions, will release new Blade.org Collaborative Solutions developed through the cooperation of various Blade.org member companies. New Blade.org Collaborative Solutions include a green data center management suite that combines multi-vendor software tools, a low-energy data center solution for a typical 160-client office, a virtualized disaster recovery solution for SMB blade server users, a Reuters Market Data System in a Box for the financial services industry and a blade vault with in-rack power supplies for advanced energy efficiency in blade-based data centers. Blade.org will also release a whitepaper The Many Facets of Virtualization jointly developed by Kyle Ohme, chair of Blade.orgs Customer Advisory Council, APC, BLADE Network Technologies, Chelsio Communications, IBM, NetApp, Neterion and NetXen.
